Darth Sidious
"Once more the sith will rule the galaxy! And we shall have peace."
Darth Sidious (also known as Chancellor Palpatine or The Emperor) is the main antagonist of the Star Wars Saga. He is a Sith Lord, and one of the most powerful to ever live. He killed many Jedi and was the mind behind the Great Jedi Purge.
He appeared more in the Prequel Trilogy than the Original Trilogy.
Prequel Trilogy[]
Phantom Menace[]
During the Phantom Menace, Darth Sidious orders the Naboo Invasion and trains the Sith Apprentice, Darth Maul. As Palpatine, he was a member of the Senate and he was voted Chancellor of the Senate at the end of the movie when Chancellor Vellorum was removed.
Attack of the Clones[]
Darth Sidious trained Count Dooku, now Darth Tyranus. He also, as Palpatine, allows the creation of 'an army of the republic', also known as the Clone Army, which, unbeknownst to all, he secretly controls. He also gained emergency powers till the war ends.
Revenge of the Sith[]
Palpatine is 'kidnapped' by Darth Tyrannus (in an attempt to kill Obi-wan Kenobi and convince Anakin to join the Sith) but he tricks Dooku by making Anakin kill him. Later, he reveals his secret identity of Darth Sidious to Anakin. Hearin this, Anakin reports the news to Jedi Master Mace Windu.
Confronting Darth Sidious[]

Windu confronts Sidious along with 3 other Jedi, but the Sith Lord easily disposes off the others, leaving Windu alone to face him. Windu disarms Sidious and reflects his Force Lightning back at him, disfiguring his face. Windu prepares to kill Sidious when Anakin arrives and cuts off Windu's lightsaber hand, allowing Sidious to kill him. Anakin pledges himself to Darth Sidious as Darth Vader .
Order 66[]
Sidious executes Order 66, at which the Clone Army attacks and kills most of the Jedi. Obi-Wan survives, and along with Master Yoda, decides to confront the two Sith Lords (Sidious & Vader).
Skirmish in the Senate[]
Yoda confronts Darth Sidious in the Senate Building while Obi-Wan confronts Darth Vader on Mustafar. Yoda
Yoda VS Darth Sidious
and the Sith Lord fight fiercely, and Sidious even disarms Yoda and strikes him with Force Lightning, but Yoda reflects in with his bare hands, but is knocked off by an explosion this creates and escapes. Meanwhile, Sidious heads to Mustafar, where he sees Darth Vader seriously injured by Kenobi. Darth Vader is given a life supporting suit by Sidious, and the Sith Rule begins.
